I just got a Sony DSC HX9V compact camera and in this video I unbox it and show you some close-up shots of the camera itself. Part 2 shows you the full review and I’ll upload samples of the video so you can judge quality for yourself. That will be up in a couple of days. Initial impressions of the Sony are that it feels incredibly well built and balanced and the new screen is extremely clear. The macro facility is incredible – I just took some test shots, hand-held by the light of a single bulb and they came out really well. Colour accuracy wasn’t 100%, but you’ll see that on the next video. I’ll be uploading those test images with the review video. If you guys have any questions, please leave a comment and ask away. If you have a DSLR, you would rotate this platform around to give a much larger support area (see video) – attach the camera on to the removable base plate. note: if your compact camera has a tripod thread that is not directly under the objective lens, then you will want to move the screw to the off-center position on the removable base plate – turn the camera on and extend the zoom lens out (normally in wide-angle position) – slowly slide the camera on to the mounted UCA making sure the camera lens does not bash up against the telescope’s ocular lens – adjust the height by loosening the screw on the right and watching the camera’s display screen – now loosen the large black screw underneath the platform to adjust the horizontal and distance alignment. Ideally, you want to position the camera so that there is either no vignetting (the black ring around the image), or until the vignetting ring is a sharp, centered circle – If you still have a little bit of vignetting, then use a little bit of camera zoom to remove the vignetting completely. As a general rule of thumb, always use as little camera zoom as possible (and then only optical zoom, not digital). This is a waterproof test with the brand new Panasonic Lumix FT2. Tested it yesterday in a local river bit the water was too dirty. That’s why i trew it between the dishes UPDATE: MADE ABOUT 700 PICTURES IN MY HOLIDAY. GOT FUNNY COLORS ON MY SCREEN AND SOME HOURS LATER IT WAS DEAD!!!! PANASONIC SAID THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO REPAIR IT. WENT TO THE SHOP TO TAKE BACK MY MONEY. I DON’T THINK I’M GOING TO BUY AN NEW FT2….. Nice testvid. You can actually see it going in the water (led turns on) and see the water flowing out. Nice to see that when the water is beneath cameralevel the lens is still clean. No water left on the lenscoating. This is why i’m addicted to Panasonic Lumix. It always works! (UPDATE: I THINK I LOST MY ADDICTION) Always nice and acceptable pictures and movies!
